The State College Spikes scored seven runs and lost Monday night because they couldn’t hold a two-run lead in the ninth inning.
The Spikes had seven runs through the sixth inning Tuesday, and the ninth inning didn’t prove to be a problem. That’s because the State College pitching shutdown the Batavia Muckdogs (36-35) en route to a 7-0 Spikes win at Batavia.

Rubinstein ends up a single shy of the cycle in a three-hit effort and hits back-to-back homers with Byler
BATAVIA, NY – Back-to-back home runs from Justin Byler and David Rubinstein fueled a State College Spikes offensive surge, but the Batavia Muckdogs came back to win in the bottom of the ninth, 8-7, at Dwyer Stadium on Monday.
CDT: Outfielder frustrates Spikes
BURLINGTON, Vt. — One of the New York-Penn League’s youngest outfielders ensured the road-weary State College Spikes opened a three-game series at Vermont with a loss.
Destin Hood belted a two-run homer off Kyle McPherson in the sixth and recorded a game-winning sacrifice fly in the eighth to lead the Lake Monsters past the Spikes 5-3 Friday at Centennial Field.
