STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Staten Island Yankees continued their free fall in the New York-Penn League standings last night, dropping a second straight decision to the State College Spikes, 4-2, at Medlar Field.
Staten Island Yankees starter Shane Greene struck out seven in four innings of work, but still picked up the loss in a 4-2 stumble against the State College Spikes.
The Baby Bombers’ sixth loss in their past seven games leaves them sitting in the cellar of the McNamara Division with a 21-23 overall record and 10 full games behind the first place Brooklyn Cyclones.
Things were bleak from the start yesterday as the Staten Island offense was completely shut down by State College starter Zack Dodson, who entered the game with a 1-2 record and 6.23 earned run average.
