AUBURN, N.Y. — The timing of the State College Spikes’ league-leading 50th double play couldn’t have been better.

Ryan Beckman induced a 6-4-3 double play with the bases loaded in the ninth as the Spikes snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory at Auburn on Saturday.

Shortstop Gift Ngoepe, second baseman Kelson Brown and first baseman Matt Curry bailed Beckman out during an inning that

started with two walks. Matt Johnson bounced into the double play after Beckman hit Lance Durham in the back to load the bases with one out.
