NILES, Ohio — Three State College pitchers helped the Spikes collect their second shutout in as many days.

Good thing, too, because they needed it.

Adalberto Santos produced the game’s only run with an RBI triple and the pitching trio of Casey Sadler, Brooks Pounders and Jhonathan Ramos survived eight Mahoning Valley hits to key the Spikes to a 1-0 victory over the Scrappers on Sunday.

Sadler, Pounders and Ramos overcame potential Mahoning Valley rallies by combining for no walks while striking out four. Tyler Waldron pitched six shutout innings in State College’s 7-0 victory over Auburn on Saturday.
