UNIVERSITY PARK — The fifth inning started and both mounds in the State College Spikes bullpen remained unoccupied.
This was a rare sight considering the team’s 2010 pitching history: none of the 19 pitchers used in the first 35 games lasted six innings.
On a muggy Saturday night, Tyler Waldron ensured the Spikes would reach the New York-Penn League’s halfway point with at least one extended outing.
Waldron tossed six shutout innings and the Spikes continued solving Auburn pitching in a 7-0 victory at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
