AUBURN, NY – The State College Spikes produced 18 hits on Saturday night, but needed to withstand a big second inning by the Auburn Doubledays and rescue themselves from a deficit two times to win, 11-10, at Falcon Park.
Adalberto Santos’s eighth-inning double brought State College (15-14) to a tie, with Chase Lyles’s two-out base hit providing the Spikes’ second lead of the game. Walker Gourley, who homered for the first time in a State College uniform in the fourth inning, then produced an insurance run with an RBI single in the ninth, a run that provided the final margin of victory.
