AUBURN, N.Y. — The State College Spikes rallied for three runs in the eighth inning to score a wild 11-10 victory over Auburn on Saturday night.
Walker Gourley, Adalberto Santos and Matt Curry each produced three hits for the Spikes, who had 18 as a team.
Santos hit a tworun double in the eighth and scored on Chase Lyles’ RBI single with two outs to give State College (15-14) a 10-9 lead. The Spikes added a key insurance run the next inning on Gourley’s RBI single.
Gourley added a solo home run in the fourth and Santos knocked in three runs for the Spikes, who fell behind 8-5 after Auburn’s seven-run second inning knocked out State College starter Kevin Decker. Decker, who allowed eight runs on seven hits, faced nine batters in the second without recording an out.
