STATE COLLEGE – Quinton Miller and Kevin Decker combined to shut out the Vermont Lake Monsters on just four hits, helping the State College Spikes to a 3-0 win over the team with the New York-Penn League’s best record at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Sunday evening,
Miller made the second start of his minor leaguerehabiliation assignment for the Spikes (12-11), and allowed just one hit and a walk over four innings of work. The right-hander retired the first ten Vermont (17-6) batters he faced, and struck out the last two.
Decker (2-0) then took over in the fifth, allowing just three hits and a walk while eliciting three double plays, including a game-ending twin killing. The College of Charleston alum remains undefeated in 2010 after going 8-0 for the Cougars in the spring.
