Team’s first two homers of the year help comeback win
BATAVIA, NY – Adalberto Santos and Chase Lyles smashed the first two home runs of the 2010 for the State College Spikes, with Lyles’s powering a seven-run sixth inning that led the Spikes past the Batavia Muckdogs, 9-8, on Saturday night at Dwyer Stadium.
Santos’s solo shot to left field came in the first inning, giving the initial lead of the game to the Spikes (4-5) for the second game in a row. However, after Batavia (4-5) took a 5-2 lead into the sixth, it was Lyles’s three-run homer deep to left field that tied the game. Miguel Mendez then knocked in a pair of runs with a base hit of his own, and Walker Gourley added a two-run single to complete the surge and give State College a 9-8 edge.
