With that in mind, those around the Spikes are enjoying the moment.
The second tour through the rotation began Wednesday when Zack Von Rosenberg went four innings against Batavia. Pitching coach Mike Steele said before the game he liked what he watched the first five games.
“Pretty impressive,” Steele said. “You’re dealing with nerves the first time out. I expect this time everything is much slower.”
The current rotation includes two distinct groups. Von Rosenberg, Zack Dodson and Brooks Pounders are 19-year-olds one year into professional careers. Kevin Decker and Tyler Waldron are 2010 draft picks whose college careers ended during NCAA Regional play.
