STATE COLLEGE – Kelson Brown continued his hot streak with the game-winning RBI single in the eighth inning as the State College Spikes came from behind to beat the Batavia Muckdogs for the second night in a row, 5-4, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Tuesday night.
Brown also started the State College (2-3) rally in the seventh inning with a leadoff triple, scoring on Matt Skirving’s single one batter later to draw the Spikes within a run at 4-3. Justin Bencsko then got the State College offense going in the eighth with a one-out walk. After a wild pitch moved Bencsko to second, Chase Lyles knocked him in with a single to left field to tie the game, 4-4. Two batters later, Brown poked a pitch into right field to plate Lyles for the go-ahead run.
Skirving finished the game 2-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in. Lyles also collected two hits in the game.
Eliecer Navarro (1-0) picked up the win for State College with three shutout innings, retiring the first eight Batavia (2-3) batters he faced and allowing only one hit. Navarro also struck out two
