Pat Irvine didn’t homer until his 30th game with the State College Spikes of the New York-Penn League. He hit his second blast Friday night in his 47th game.
Irvine, who has been used as a left fielder and third baseman for State College, hasn’t been void of power numbers. His six triples make him the co-leader in the league in that category. He also has been on an offensive surge, raising his batting average to .242 as he has batted at a .412 clip during the last 10 games.
