When the Auburn Doubledays loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the tenth inning, the State College Spikes felt the momentum shifting.
After battling back and forth with the Doubledays, the Spikes turned to reliever Alan Knotts to try and give the offense a boost. Knotts was able to work himself out of the jam by striking out the next two batters.
Knotts (3-1) gave the Spikes three crucial innings of work and was able to shut down the Doubledays offense.
Behind three runs in the top of the eleventh inning, the visiting Spikes were able to regain the momentum and complete the two-game sweep of the Doubledays. The Spikes (19-20) continued their offensive explosion as they exploited five Doubledays (15-24) pitchers on their way to a 7-4 victory.
