Spikes top last season’s win total
AUBURN, N.Y. — It took 11 innings to do it, but the State College Spikes picked up win No. 19 on the season last night with a 7-4 victory over the Auburn Doubledays.
The win total matters because the Spikes won all of 18 games last season.
State College eclipsed the 2008 mark in Game 39 of the season. It also inched within a game of .500, stayed four games back of Mahoning Valley in the Pinckney Division, and finished a two-game sweep of Auburn.
